Today, I’m sharing my perfect “solo date” itinerary: authentic Italian pasta at the legendary Gino’s Cafe & Trattoria, followed by a crispy treat from the churros shop right next door.

You cannot talk about Fremantle’s food history without mentioning Gino’s. Established in 1983, it’s the heartbeat of the South Terrace “Cappuccino Strip.”
While Gino’s is famous for its coffee, their pasta menu is a hidden gem for solo diners. I ordered the Spaghetti Marinara, and it did not disappoint.
- The Dish: The pasta was packed with a generous mix of seafood, tossed in a rich, savory tomato-based sauce with just the right hint of garlic and herbs.
- The Vibe: What makes Gino’s great for solo travelers is the seating. You can grab a spot by the window or an outdoor table to people-watch while you eat. It’s busy and lively, meaning you can blend right in and enjoy your meal in peace.
Second Stop: Sweet Perfection at San Churro
After a savory pasta, the only logical next step is dessert. Luckily, you don’t have to walk far. Right next door to Gino’s is San Churro, the go-to spot for Spanish doughnuts.
There is something incredibly satisfying about warm, crunchy churros dusted in cinnamon sugar and dipped into thick, melted dark chocolate. It’s the perfect size for a post-dinner treat and a great way to end a night of exploring Fremantle’s historic streets.
